Parke is a ceramics artist who is based in Durham, NC. Her main media is porcelain clay and high-firing glazes. Much of her inspiration and spark for clay came from her visits to Northern Ireland, where her grandmother would take her to local fine china shops.
I took inspiration from Parke because I was very drawn to her work. Her forms are simplistic but her designs and glaze choices bring it to the next level. With my final idea I chose to do jewelry boxes, I used porcelain clay, and I created a texture with a technique that I would crave into the underglaze. Something that caught my eye was in multiple pieces there are segments of different patterns and designs so I try to incorporate that in my piece.
Overall this was one of my favorite piece that I made this year, I think definitely show my growth and hard work.
