Artist Statement

                                                                                    Hi! Welcome to my website.

My first experience with clay began in my sophomore year of high school. Before this, I had no prior knowledge about this type of medium but because of studio ceramics, it had opened my eyes to a whole new world. As I progressed through the years my love for ceramics continued to grow. As I saw my ideas come to life, the feeling of astonishment and accomplishment grew. It is art I could say was made by me. My goal throughout the years was to create artwork that I was proud of, artwork that I could show to the rest of the world.

Like in many things in life, whenever we were given a project we needed a plan, a sketch, a play-by-play of what I wanted to do with the prompt. As an artist I would like to say I keep my artwork minimalistic, works that I can see inside my home. When I plan out, I think about how the glaze would work with the clay, what color works with each other, and so on. And I would say I tend to focus more on functional pieces that could be used for everyday life.

Throughout the years, I can definitely and proudly say that my work has grown tremendously. At the beginning of my art career, I would say I started out very basic and safe, I didn’t really test my limits. But this past year I can say I pushed myself. Pushed myself with my form-making, color choice, and even the media I decided to choose. Creating organic forms, experimenting with glazes, and doing things that I was scared to do during my sophomore year. As I grew and my work, I began to realize what worked for me and what didn't, which I do believe made my art stronger this year than any of the other years. This year especially has made me realize even though I may not be majoring in an art-related field, I do hope to continue creating artwork.

As you look over my website, I hope my effort and passion for art radiance through.

                                                                                                           Thank you!
